Garance Marneur studied fine art in Paris and went on to graduate in Design for Performance from Central Saint Martins in London.
Garance Marneur was the 2007 overall winner of the Linbury Biennial Prize for Stage Design held at the National Theatre in London. She was nominated Most Successful Freelancer in the Creative Enterprise Awards 2010.
She designs set & costume for both Theatre, Dance and Opera including most recently DREAMING IN CODE for 2Faced Dance; GET SANTA!, I PROMISE YOU SEX AND VIOLENCE and DARK WOODS, DEEP SNOW for Northen Stage; ANOTHER PLACE for Plymouth Drum, DESSA ROSE (Trafalgar Studios); ECHOES for Ella Robson Guilfoyle; COMFORT ZONE for Levy Dance; NARRATIVE for the Royal Court; KING LEAR for Abbey Theatre, Dublin; THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER for Unicorn Theatre; TENET for Greyscale; THE LEGEND OF CAPTAIN CROW'S TEETH for the Unicorn Theatre; MARAT/SADE and MEASURE FOR MEASURE for the RSC; SOLD for Theatre 503, a new piece with choreographer Ben Levy for Scottish Dance Theatre, HERDING CATS and THE CHAIRS for Theatre Royal Bath, MY ARM/WHAT WOULD JUDAS DO?/A PRAYER and TONIGHT DAVID IRELAND WILL LECTURE, DANCE AND BOX for Greyscale, a national tour of HUCK, ROMEO AND JULIET at StadtTheater Bern (Ballet-Switzerland), multi award winning ORPHANS at the Traverse in Edinburgh, Birmingham Rep and Soho Theatre, GAGARIN WAY for Theatre Royal Bath, TURANDOT (winning design of the Linbury Prize for Stage Design) at the Hampstead Theatre, ROMEO AND JULET at the National Theatre Studio, GIANNI SCHICCJHI conducted by Valery Gergiev at the Mariinsky Theatre (Opera- St Petersburg), DIRTY BUTTERFLY at the Young Vic and I AM FALLING at the Gate Theatre and Sadler's Wells (nominated for a South Bank Show Award).
Garance has been appointed Executive Artistic Director of LEVYDance based in San Francisco.
